What is Resin?

The resin is produced from the cannabis plant’s resin, just like live resin. Trichomes are tiny protuberances on the cannabis plant that produce resin.

THC and other key marijuana components are stored in the trichomes.

Because cannabis has both CBD (cannabidiol) and THC (tetrahydrocannabinol), other minor cannabinoids, and myrcene and linalool, important terpenes, plant material may be used to extract them. Because of this, trichomes are valued for their medicinal and recreational benefits.

The preservation of cannabis plant material prior to extraction is accomplished using cured resin.

The confusion starts when people hear the term ‘cured resin.’ Any cannabis concentrate that has been cured through the curing process is what ‘cured resin’ refers to. For simplicity’s sake, ‘cured resin’ may be used to describe cured cannabis concentrate.

How is resin cured? Or, to put it differently, how is cannabis cured? The curing procedure removes moisture from the flowers in controlled environmental conditions.

Cannabis concentrates, whether coming from cured or dried buds, tend to follow similar preservation processes. Live resin, a fairly recent product, employs a somewhat distinct preservation method than the others.

Instead of draining the plant’s moisture, live resin keeps it live. This innovation preserves cannabis.

Fresh cannabis plants are harvested and frozen to a subcritical temperature level prior to and throughout the whole extraction process.

Cannabis concentrates are produced by drying and curing the cannabis plant of its moisture and chlorophyll. Intense heat, oxygen, light, and physical pressure are used to destroy the trichomes.

When utilizing the technique, most of the cannabis plant’s terpenes are destroyed, reducing the plant’s flavor and aroma and diminishing the user’s experience.

The live resin freezes the plant, preserving the trichomes and the plant’s precious cannabinoids and other phytocompounds. Furthermore, the freezing of cannabis throughout the process preserves the plant’s original flavour and aroma. Rosin is the counterpart, a solventless extract that enjoys a high terpene and cannabinoid percentage.

A live resin produces a dark or deep yellow-colored concentrate. Its sticky consistency is not too watery nor too hard, falling somewhere between a sauce and a wax. The waxiness or the runniness of a live resin varies from one concentrate brand to another.

The procedure for creating cured resin is the same as those for dry ice hash, dry sift, kief, hydrocarbon extraction, and CO2 extraction in general (BHO/PHO, etc.).

Butane gas, heat, and pressure are used to extract cannabinoids and terpenes from a cannabis plant material in BHO or Butane Hash Oil (BHO) extraction. It is imperative to remove butane from the final stage of the concentration process because butane is not suitable for human consumption.

Using propane, PHO extracts cannabis compounds from plant material. This technique is similar to BHO, except for the propane aspect.
